=====================================*** SkippySky Testimonials ***======================================================== Phil Hart (with permission) Sept 2010 http://philhart.com/content/cloud-forecasts-australian-astronomers =============================================================================================================================== From Carol Redford, Gingin Observatory, Western Australia August 2010 We use Skippysky all the time to predict cloud cover at Gingin Observatory. It's a really useful program that assists us deliver current weather information to visitors who are booked in for stargazing nights. Plus it helps us at the Observatory to predict when there may be a break in cloud cover so that we make the best use of our evenings under the stars. Keep up the great work Andrew - your efforts are greatly appreciated by stargazers worldwide, I'm sure! Thanks again for putting us on your map, Carol =============================================================================================================================== From Paul Maley, NASA Johnson Space Center Astronomical Society, Houston TX USA July 2010 Skippysky did a great job on providing an advance prediction for the July 10 solar eclipse weather in the Tuamotus. Even though we could not deviate from our plan to fly to Hikueru and Hao, the prediction for each island was matched by the reality some 8 hours before the eclipse. As a result one atoll saw it clearly, the other did not. Had we been able, the skippysky prediction would have enabled us to have found a near realtime alternative. Good on ya." =============================================================================================================================== From "Virgs", Adelaide, South Australia April 2009 Hello All, just thought I would share the result of the last 3 visits to Stockport which were last Wednesday, Sunday and last night. Skippy Sky had predicted that last Wenesday would see cloud roll in at around 1.30 am and on the way home we hit the approaching cloud at 1.00 am. Last Wednesday Skippy said we would be good and we were. Now last night Skippy Sky said that at 9.30 pm cloud would arrive - I lost my guide star at 9.27 pm, so time to pack up and roll on home. For me having to drive 130 km one way to use the facility, Skippy Sky gives me the reference by which I make the call if it is worth the effort. Also last Friday night we had organized a viewing night at my house because a former member was in town on holiday and as you may recall, Friday was a very cloudy day. Skippy said it would all be good by 9.30 pm and as if by magic the clouds went away and we spent till 1.30 am viewing. So from myself thank you Andrew for your efforts and I for one appreciate the effort that has/is going into this. =============================================================================================================================== From JH, Adelaide, South Australia Apr 2009 I think it is an excellent piece of work. Why haven't the professionals come up with such a prediction system? Can you guess why (or are you just a lot smarter than the average bear?? ) =============================================================================================================================== From Terry M, Spain Feb 2009 This is a great thank you for your cloud coverage etc of Europe especially Spain. Coverage of the US was always available but there was nothing especially to the quality of your site for Europe. =============================================================================================================================== Jeffrey W., SunnyVale, California, USA Feb 2009 Thanks for constructing a really great web site that lets you see what's coming much more completely than the CSC's (if only one could move easily into the dark holes). =============================================================================================================================== Ian E. USA/OZ June 2009 i've only just become aware of your forecasting website and i gotta say i love it. i am especially please to find you as i have been living in the USA for a few years. anyway, excellent work! i am sure i will start using your site a great deal. =============================================================================================================================== Greg Q. Broome Western Australia June 2009 I'm loving your site. I run astronomy shows 6 nights a week in Broome, Western Australia so have developed a pretty good sense of when the clouds are going to go and when they are going to stay. Your site has added considerably to my decision making toolkit. ===============================================================================================================================
